An Urgent Call to the Religious Society of Friends
Bruce Birchard shares Quaker concerns on the Election
Bruce Birchard will speak on one of the most consequential presidential elections of our lifetimes and its consequences for our political society. Bruce is a member of Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting, the former General Secretary of Friends General Conference, a board member of Right Sharing of World Resources and a member of the PYM Eco Justice Collaborative. In 2020 Bruce was instrumental in setting up Saving Our Democracy, with a Focus on Protecting the Integrity of our Elections. The group has published “An Urgent Call to the Religious Society of Friends” which has been endorsed by 800 individual Friends and 80 Quaker meetings and organizations throughout the United States.
Children and Youth Program: Children will have their own program that will focus on being neighbors. This rises from what's happening in Goshen's community and also has a connection to our conversation with Bruce about the divisiveness in our political society. We plan to walk to Bellingham retirement community and visit with the residents. Parents will be asked to sign a release so that their children can participate. Youth are encouraged to join Bruce’s talk.
Childcare will also be provided during meeting for business.
Friends may park near the meetinghouse, playground, school and grange. If parking across the street at East Goshen Elementary School, please be careful as there is no dedicated crosswalk
