Ashley Cloud, a masterful storyteller and lover of local history, will weave the tale of the unlikely friendship between Harriet Tubman and Thomas Garrett. Based on her extensive research, she will provide a unique perspective on their deeply personal connection. They shared a powerful leading to provide safe passage to those who were seeking freedom during an extremely troubled period in our country. Thomas Garrett wrote of Harriet Tubman in June of 1868, “In truth, I never met with any person of any color who had more confidence in the voice of God as spoken directly to her soul.”
